In autonomous systems and robots it is very important to identify the route identifiers which have been laid on the ground for the robot to follow. We usually employ an IR sensor to distinguish between black and white surface and follow either the black or white accordingly. But it can get very complicated very fast as if there are a lot of lines then a simple line tracker can not do the job efficiently. This 5 way road tracing sensor incorporated 5 TCRT5000 IR sensors for complex black and white pattern recognition and one additional IR sensor for obstacle detection. These are high sensitivity sensors which can accurately measure the distance from 0.5mm to 40mm. They can be used in line follower robots, pattern making systems, industrial automation systems etc.

  • It provides Digital Output signals for easy interfacing with the development board like Arduino, PIC and Raspberry Pi.
  • LED indicators for easy debugging and verification.
  • It has input voltage range of 3.0V to 5.5V.
  • It also has a touch detection sensor for easy integration into any robot chassis.
  • The sliding varistor enables adjustment in detecting distance of the obstacle detecting sensor.

To use this module, power it by VCC (5V) pin and GND Pin. Connect to digital Output pins to any GPIO Pins of your development board or Microcontroller. Develop and debug your program according to the Indicator LEDs present on the Board.
